| Gogmi is a village in central Chad, east of N’djamena, the capital city. It is home to about 5000 people of the Sokoro language group without access to God’s Word in their own “heart” language. During the 1960’s, a group of Swiss Brethren established a dispensary in Gogmi staffed by a Christian nurse. In 1994, Sue and Gordon Martin arrived on behalf of Wycliffe Bible Translators. They arrived in Gogmi with the ultimate goal of producing a written language and Sokoro Bible. The Martins have since been called to teaching ministry in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Michel Karim and Abderahim Yarange continue the translation work in the village. There is also a small congregation of seekers. Pray for Michel, Abderahim, and others who have provided assistance and leadership, and all the people of Gogmi as God’s will for them unfolds! | |
Greg and Tracy McLean and daughters Raya and Kate are living and ministering as mission workers in Cameroon, Central Africa, with Wycliffe Bible Translators. God has lead them as they acquired the tools of linguistics, translation and literacy to effectively minister among the Mfumte language group in a remote mountainous area of the north. Pray for the Lord's guidance and presence for the McLean family as we partner with them. Cassel Mennonite Church and their former pastor, Dan Nighswander and Yvonne Snider Nighswander, have recently covenanted to ministry partnership in South Africa through Mennonite Church Canada walking alongside African Initiated Church leaders. This ministry includes Bible study, leadership development, encouragement, AIDS/HIV support and resourcing. We are also privileged to have a growing relationship with Randy, Anita, Cameron and Hudson Lebold ministering in Indonesia with Wycliffe Bible Translators. Cassel Mennonite Church also supports (financially and by providing volunteer workers) Mennonite Central Committee, Ontario MCC Relief Sale and Mennonite Disaster Services in their varied ministries of relief, development and compassion "in the name of Christ."
